Serve

Following Jesus and Serving Him go hand-in-hand (Joh 12:26). Serving should, therefore, be consistent with the ministry and nature of Jesus. The vision of Ministry & Service is as follows:

• To administer the Gospel of Jesus Christ, fulfilling the Great Commission.
• To equip others for the work of the ministry.
• To care for the basic needs of the church body.
• To provide an avenue to worship God through faithful service.

Serving in the Ministry should be regarded as a privilege, with the consideration that those on the receiving end of the ministry are Jesus’ “flock”. For the following reasons, Service positions are divided into areas with qualifications for each:

• To establish confidence and peace of mind in the Flock concerning those who Serve.
• To clarify Servant involvement, expectations, and accountability.
• To set goals for those interested in Serving.

Support

Service Examples: Communion Prep, Greeting, Kitchen, Pre-Service Set-Up, Post-Service Pack-Up, Snacks-rotation

• Consistent church attendance for past three months
• Born-again Believer (Joh 3:3, Rom 10:9)
• Free from stumbling blocks & vices (Ac 15:29)
• Harmony in Doctrine (Php 2:2) – see Beliefs
• Harmony with Leadership (1Co 1:10)
• Teachable, Submitted Spirit (Pr 22:17, Php 2:5,7-8)
• Willingness to serve others “invisibly” without seeking recognition or praise (Col 3:23-24)
• Reliability regarding published schedules
• Participation in periodic called meetings

Administrative

Service Examples: Audio/Video, Communion Team, Fellowship Hosting, Security, Ushering, Worship Team

• “Support” Qualifications
• Consistent church attendance for past six months
• Regular involvement in a core ministry within the church (e.g. Midweek, Prayer, Home Fellowship, Men’s, Women’s)
• Water (non-infant) Baptism (Ac 2:38)
• Good reputation and occupation (Ac 6:3, Ac 10:22), bearing “Fruit of the Spirit” (Gal 5:22-23)
• Faithfulness… (Mt 25:21,23)
• > Individually = to the Lord
• > Interpersonally = to one’s spouse, family, friends, associations, occupations
• > Ecclesiastically = to the Church…
• > > Faithful in past ministry duties & responsibilities
• > > Godly interaction & servanthood within the Body

Leadership

• Godly character and practice (1Ti 3:8-13, Tit 1:5-6)
• Have read through the Bible at least once and continuing to do so
• Practices regular Bible study, devotion, and scripture memorization
• Clear understanding and communication of Systematic Theology
