Worship Musicianship
We love to worship the Lord, and we’re big fans of others who love to do the same! In order to facilitate the creative interaction of Christian musicians sharing on a musical plane, the following musical proficiency is detailed for active participation:
Basic Musicianship
- Attitude – others-oriented, not a spot-light seeker; overall, a great person to be around
- Direction – ability to lead, and to follow another’s lead
- Dynamics – applying the art of playing loud or soft
- Group Interaction – considerate of when, and when not, to play
- Meter – ability to distinguish, and play in, different time signatures (4/4, 3/4, 6/8, etc)
- Pitch – understanding and recognition of sharp & flat pitch
- Tempo – ability to play or sing in time
Instrumentalists
- Chord Charts – can interpret and play through intermediate chord charts (Maj, min, sus, dom7, m7, M7 chords)
- Equipment – musician supplied, preferably that which can be amplified
- Instrument Familiarity – tuning, tonal adjustment, transposition into other keys, etc.
Vocalists
- Confident singing – can solo with or without accompaniment
- Echoes, Rounds, and Harmonization – familiarity and ability to execute
- Microphone – not shy about its use
- Vibrato – can sing with and without pitch modulation
