About

We’ve included this section to provide an overview of our ministry style and practices. While by no means comprehensive, we trust it will assist in providing a thumbnail sketch of Calvary Chapel Louisville’s activities.

Sunday Morning Service @ 10:45a

Calvary Chapel Louisville
Middletown Community Center ‘Sanctuary’
11700 Main St, Middletown KY 40243

NOTE: This is NOT a shipping or mailing address.

We do not follow a formal liturgy, but a typical Sunday Morning Service includes each of the following, in reference to Acts 2:42

  • Apostles’ Doctrine – verse-by-verse instruction in God’s Word
  • Fellowship – sharing & singing “psalms, hymns, & spiritual songs” (Col 3:16)
  • Breaking of Bread – Communion (Lk 22:19-20)
  • Prayers – open, congregational “prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving” (Php 4:6-7)

Affiliation

Pastor Rock & Calvary Chapel Louisville are affiliated with the Calvary Chapel Association (CCA), Calvary Global Network (CGN), and the ministry of Pastor Chuck Smith.

In regard to CCA & CGN:
CCA is led by an Advisory Board assembled by Pastor Chuck prior to his death in 2013. CCA’s mission is to oversee and support Calvary Chapel pastors & churches who share the ministry philosophy of Pastor Chuck related to the Word, doctrine, and ministry distinctives.
In November 2016, CGA was established and is led primarily by Brian Brodersen, Pastor Chuck’s son-in-law and pastoral successor of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. CGA’s ministry vision broadens the “traditional” Calvary Chapel ministry model to include New Calvinism doctrine, Emergent philosophy, and the Seeker-Sensitive growth model.

While we do not share CGA’s broadened ministry vision, we’ve opted not to divide, but to instead, “above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.” (Col 3:14)

Baptism & Communion

Baptism: Scheduled periodically for those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, trusting in His atoning, substitutionary work at the cross and His subsequent bodily resurrection, and who are actively being discipled.

Communion: Celebrated every Sunday following congregational worship, prayer, and teaching; an open invitation to all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Romans 10:9-13
[9] If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” [12] ¶ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. [13] For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Family In Service

We encourage and support the conviction for families to worship and be taught together! Our greatest parenting example is Jesus and the Father abiding in one another!

John 15:9-10
[9] “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. [10] “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7
[4] “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! [5] “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. [6] “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. [7] “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

2 Timothy 3:15-17
[15] From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. [16] All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, [17] that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Teens Saints

The Apostle Paul’s words to Timothy are applicable to young people today:

1 Timothy 4:12-16
[12] Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. [13] Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. [14] Do not neglect the gift that is in you […]. [15] Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. [16] Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine; continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Teen Saints: Youth ministries are valuable but, more importantly, be diligent to seek the Lord in regard to your ministry to the Body of Christ, and share your gifts serving others!
